Tapestry Bags from Rags ...Saturday nights in The Art Room

Come join Sophie Gold for a month of Saturday's learning how to "make a silk purse from a sows ear", bags from rags, bowls, baskets, broaches, earrings, and other delectable, wearable arts. She will introduce you to the magic of tapestry on a portable frame loom. Tapestry sounds a lot like dusty old art with guns, pheasants, and accomplished men. It's way cooler than that. By tying knots of precious/recycled/waste fabric onto the warp, row by row, you will build a fabric to create your artwork/masterpiece/wearable art. Big or small, it's your creation. You might create a wall hanging, a set of placemats, a tiny coin purse, shimmering broach and earrings, or a fancy clutch to go to the opera. Limited only by imagination and materials, and capped at 10 participants. Weekly from 7-9pm in the new art room, from the second Saturday in September.
